Extra listening

We have been talking about reviews this week. I have found a listening comprehension exercise which you might find a bit easy, but it includes vocabulary seen in class.
1) Movie Review: Audio and test
2) Text completion exercise
3) Script

Here's something more challenging for you: an interview with Bernardo Atxaga on the BBC about his novel "Seven Houses in France" (Zazpi etxe Frantzian). His accent may not be perfect, but he speaks with a certain fluency and you might find it really interesting. Enjoy it!

INTERVIEW

  1. I can´t help smiling after listening to B.Atxaga´s interview because it evokes associations with fond memories.
I remember perfectly when I started studying English six years ago.
My teacher looked fascinated and sceptical at the same time with my first composition-she even recitated some lines of it by memory while my eyes were wide open and I only wanted to run out.My second writing, which was supposed to be more ambitious, was awful.I got two pages full of red ink with a note: "you can´t traslate literally from Spanish to English"(as I had done).
So,I realised that each language has its own way to organise thoughts and it´s better not to mix them.

When I´m reading a foreigner author´s book into Spanish,I wonder if that translation won´t be a different book written by a translator.
